Basil 'Holy Basil' 'Holy'

Holy Basil, often referred to as Tulsi, is a revered herb in Ayurvedic tradition, distinct from culinary sweet basils with its spicy, clove-like, slightly peppery aroma and flavour. It forms an upright, bushy plant with slightly hairy, often purplish-tinged leaves, typically growing to 30-60cm in height and spread. Spikes of delicate pinkish-purple flowers appear in summer. As a tender annual (H1C) in the UK, it thrives in full sun and fertile, well-drained soil, needing warmth and protection from cold. Ideal for containers or a warm spot in the herb garden. Primarily used for making herbal teas and for its spiritual significance.
