Basil 'African Blue'
'African Blue' basil is a sterile hybrid, revered for its robust, camphoraceous aroma and vigorous growth, offering a unique flavour profile distinct from common sweet basils. This attractive plant boasts beautiful deep green leaves tinged with purple and vibrant purple flower spikes throughout the summer, making it highly ornamental. It forms a substantial, bushy plant, often reaching 60-90cm in height and spread. As a tender perennial (H1C), it's typically grown as an annual in the UK, thriving in full sun and fertile, well-drained soil. It is a fantastic pollinator magnet, continuously producing nectar-rich flowers over a long season. Best for infusing oils or vinegars and not typically for fresh use.
