White Waterlily
Nymphaea alba, the native White Waterlily, is a quintessential symbol of tranquil ponds, gracing still waters across the UK. It produces classic, large, pristine white, cup-shaped flowers, often with a hint of yellow at their centres, which float gracefully on the water's surface from early summer to early autumn. The broad, dark green, round floating leaves provide essential shade for aquatic life and help to suppress algae. This vigorous species is suitable for medium to large ponds, requiring a planting depth of 30-150cm. It thrives in full sun, making a majestic statement and providing valuable habitat and nectar for pollinators. Fully hardy and a truly iconic aquatic plant.
