Love-in-a-Mist 'Miss Jekyll'

A quintessential cottage garden and Mediterranean annual, 'Miss Jekyll' is famous for its ethereal, sky-blue semi-double flowers. These are nestled within a delicate ruff of feathery, lime-green bracts, creating a misty appearance. Following the flowers, the plant produces highly decorative, balloon-like seed pods that are prized for dried floral arrangements. In the UK, this plant is best sown directly where it is to flower, either in autumn for early blooms or spring for summer colour. It is incredibly easy to grow and frequently self-seeds, becoming a permanent but welcome resident in gravel gardens and sunny borders. It prefers a position in full sun and will grow in almost any soil, provided it is not waterlogged. The feathery foliage adds a light, airy texture that complements coarser Mediterranean shrubs. It is a hardy annual (H3 during the growing season) that provides nectar for bees.
