Flowering tobacco 'Whisper Rose Shades'

Nicotiana x sanderae 'Whisper Rose Shades' is an elegant and heavily scented annual that is a delight in any UK garden, particularly in the evening. This cultivar produces tall, airy sprays of star-shaped flowers in various shades of rose, pink, and silvery mauve. Reaching about 90-120cm in height, it has a more refined and slender habit than the chunkier bedding types. The flowers are carried on graceful, branching stems above a rosette of large, green leaves. One of its best features is that the flowers stay open during the day, unlike some other nicotianas, but they still release a sweet, lily-like fragrance as dusk falls, making them perfect for planting near a patio or seating area. It thrives in full sun or partial shade and prefers a moist but well-drained soil. It is a half-hardy annual that is easy to grow from seed started indoors in spring. It is also very attractive to moths and butterflies.
