Japanese Silver Grass 'Cosmo Revert'

A vigorous and architectural deciduous grass, 'Cosmo Revert' is the non-variegated, all-green version of 'Cosmopolitan'. It is chosen for its height (up to 2.5 metres) and its large, broad, lush green leaves that have a prominent white midrib. In late autumn, it produces large, feathery, reddish-bronze flower plumes that turn silver as they age. Its sheer scale makes it an ideal choice for a majestic specimen or a fast-growing screen. It is extremely sturdy and remains upright through most of the winter, providing a strong vertical element in the dormant garden. Fully hardy (H6), it performs best in full sun and rich, moist soil, although it is remarkably adaptable. Like all Miscanthus, it should be cut back to the ground in early spring. It is a low-maintenance plant that is rarely bothered by pests and adds a tropical feel to temperate UK gardens.
