Orange Mint 'Granada'
'Granada' is a sophisticated variety of Orange Mint (also known as Bergamot Mint) that is highly prized for its unique citrus fragrance. It is a vigorous, stoloniferous perennial that features rounded, dark green leaves often tinged with bronze or purple, especially on the stems. When crushed, the foliage exudes a strong, sweet scent of orange peel and lavender, making it a fantastic ingredient for fruit salads, desserts, and iced teas. In the UK garden, it is fully hardy (H7) and performs best in a moist, fertile soil in full sun or partial shade. Like all mints, its spreading habit means it is best grown in a container to prevent it from overwhelming other plants. In late summer, it produces short, dense spikes of small pinkish-purple flowers. It is less aggressive than peppermint but still provides excellent ground cover in damp, shady corners where other herbs might struggle.
Sun: Full sun to partial shade.
Soil: Moist, fertile soil.
Hardiness: H7 — below −20°C.
Flowering: Jul, Aug, Sep.
