Garden Mint 'English Lamb'

A quintessential British herb, 'English Lamb' is a traditional variety of spearmint specifically selected for its sweet, clean flavour and large, succulent leaves. It grows vigorously, reaching heights of up to 90cm, and is much sturdier than many common mints. In the UK climate, it thrives in damp, cool conditions and can tolerate partial shade, making it ideal for those awkward corners of the kitchen garden. Like all mints, it has a spreading, invasive habit via underground runners, so it is best grown in a large sunken pot to contain its growth. The serrated, bright green foliage is complemented by spikes of tiny lilac flowers in mid to late summer which are highly attractive to honeybees. It is fully hardy (H7) and will die back in winter before reappearing in early spring. Regular picking and pinching out the tips will encourage a bushier habit and fresh growth.

Sun: Full sun to partial shade.

Soil: Moist, fertile soil.

Hardiness: H7 — below −20°C.
