Apple 'Jupiter'

'Jupiter' is a modern triploid dessert apple, bred to combine the complex aromatic flavour of 'Cox's Orange Pippin' with greater vigour and disease resistance. It produces very large, handsome fruits with a greenish-yellow base flushed and striped with red. The texture is crisp and juicy, offering a rich, robust flavour that many enthusiasts prefer over its parentage. As a triploid variety, it is exceptionally vigorous and requires two different pollination partners to set fruit, but the resulting heavy crops are well worth the effort. It is particularly well-suited to the UK climate, showing good hardiness and a degree of resistance to common issues like scab and mildew. In spring, it is smothered in attractive pink-flushed white blossoms. Because of its size, it is excellent for those who want a substantial harvest from a single tree. It stores well into the New Year, retaining its firm texture and deep, sweet-sharp flavour profile throughout the winter months.
