Apple 'Arthur Turner'
'Arthur Turner' is a classic UK culinary apple that is widely regarded for its spectacular blossom, making it an excellent dual-purpose specimen for the garden. It received the RHS Award of Merit for its flowers alone. The tree is exceptionally hardy, vigorous, and has an upright habit, making it suitable for northern regions and more exposed sites. It is a reliable, heavy cropper. The fruits are large, round, and smooth-skinned, with a light green colour that turns yellow as they mature. The flesh is white, firm, and cooks down to a well-flavoured, pale yellow purée that requires very little added sugar. It is one of the best varieties for early-season baking, with picking starting in August and continuing through September. It belongs to pollination group 3 and is particularly notable for its high resistance to many common apple diseases, including scab.
