Compact Oregon Grape
A low-growing, evergreen shrub, ideal for ground cover, with attractive holly-like foliage that often turns bronze or purple in cooler weather. In spring, it produces clusters of cheerful yellow, fragrant flowers, followed by blue-black berries that are appealing to birds. It typically spreads up to 1 metre wide, reaching a height of 30-60 cm. This hardy plant (H6) thrives in partial to full shade and prefers moist, well-drained, acidic to neutral soil. It's an excellent choice for woodland gardens, underplanting, or erosion control on banks, providing year-round interest and low maintenance.
