Honeysuckle 'Scentsation'

Lonicera 'Scentsation' is a variety of honeysuckle bred specifically for its overwhelming fragrance. It produces a mass of showy, bright yellow flowers throughout the summer, which are highly attractive to bees, butterflies, and moths. In the UK, it is a popular choice for growing over pergolas, arches, or any structure where its scent can be appreciated by those passing by. After the flowering season, it often produces small berries which are a hit with garden birds. This climber is easy to grow and relatively vigorous, though it doesn't become quite as unmanageable as some wilder honeysuckle types. It prefers its "roots in the shade and its head in the sun," which is easily achieved by planting low-growing shrubs or perennials around its base. It is fully hardy and deciduous, losing its leaves in winter. Regular pruning after flowering helps to keep the plant tidy and prevents it from becoming too woody at the base.
