Living Stone
Living Stones are fascinating mimicry plants, perfectly adapted to blend into their stony natural habitats. Each plant consists of a pair of fused, succulent leaves that resemble pebbles or small stones, splitting to reveal new leaves or a single daisy-like flower, typically yellow or white, in autumn. These South African natives are excellent for specialist succulent collections in the UK, requiring very specific care to thrive. They need extremely well-drained, gritty compost and a very bright, sunny position, ideally in a conservatory or on a south-facing windowsill. Watering should be minimal and carefully timed to their growth cycle. They are not frost-hardy and must be kept dry and protected from cold.
