Living Stone

Lithops karasmontana, a 'Living Stone', is an extraordinary mimicry plant, blending seamlessly with its rocky natural habitat. These fascinating succulents are perfect for specialist alpine collections or very shallow, well-drained pans in a cool greenhouse or protected rockery in the UK. Each plant consists of two fleshy, fused leaves resembling pebbles, with a fissure from which a single daisy-like flower emerges in autumn. Various colours and patterns exist 'Lateritia Green-Brown' is a popular form. They require extremely gritty, very free-draining soil and minimal water, especially during their dormant periods. Full sun is essential.
