Lithodora 'White Star'

While 'Heavenly Blue' is the most common variety, 'White Star' offers a unique and striking alternative. It forms a low-growing, evergreen mat of dark green, bristly leaves. The flowers are truly beautiful, featuring a brilliant white star shape set against a vivid gentian-blue background on each petal. It produces a prolific display of these bicoloured blooms in late spring and early summer. It is hardy (H4) but can be fussy about its growing conditions; specifically, it absolutely requires acidic to neutral soil and will rapidly turn yellow and fail in alkaline or lime-rich environments. It also demands excellent drainage and a sunny position. It is particularly effective when allowed to sprawl over the edge of a peat bed or a large container filled with ericaceous compost. It provides a dense carpet of colour and is a fantastic choice for adding an unusual touch to the acidic rock garden.碎,flowering_months:[
