Scarlet Flax
Linum rubrum, often referred to as Scarlet Flax, is a vivid annual species native to North Africa, celebrated for its intense, fiery red flowers that bring a splash of bold colour to the garden. These delicate annuals typically grow to a height of 30-60cm with a spread of 15-25cm, forming airy clumps covered in blooms. Scarlet Flax thrives in full sun and well-drained soil, making it an excellent choice for rockeries, borders, or naturalistic planting schemes. It flowers profusely from early summer to late summer. Its vibrant colour attracts pollinators, and its fine texture provides a beautiful contrast to more robust plants.
