Spring Snowflake

Leucojum vernum, commonly known as Spring Snowflake, is a charming tuberous perennial that brings a touch of elegance to UK gardens in late winter and early spring. Resembling a larger, more robust snowdrop, it boasts pure white, bell-shaped flowers, each petal tipped with a distinctive green spot. Its glossy, strap-like leaves emerge before the flowers, forming attractive clumps. Spring Snowflakes are incredibly hardy and prefer moist, well-drained soil in partial shade, making them ideal for woodland gardens, naturalising in grass, or planting under deciduous trees. They are low maintenance and, once established, will slowly spread to form beautiful drifts, providing a refreshing display during the transition from winter to spring. They are also a good source of early nectar for pollinators.
