Summer Snowflake

Leucojum aestivum, the summer snowflake, is a beautiful and robust bulbous plant that extends the season of snowflake flowers into late spring and early summer, typically blooming from April to June. It produces elegant, bell-shaped white flowers, each petal tipped with a distinctive green spot, held aloft on sturdy stems. This fully hardy perennial thrives in moist, even boggy, soil and can tolerate both full sun and partial shade, making it perfect for waterside plantings, damp borders, or naturalizing in long grass. It is larger and more robust than its spring-flowering counterpart, Leucojum vernum, growing to around 45-60cm tall. It forms attractive clumps that provide a graceful presence in the garden.
