Shasta Daisy 'Phyllis Smith'

Leucanthemum x superbum 'Phyllis Smith' offers a charming and slightly wild twist on the traditional Shasta Daisy. Instead of flat, formal petals, this cultivar features narrow, fringed, and twisted white rays that give the flower heads a shaggy, informal appearance. The bright yellow central discs provide a cheery contrast. This perennial is medium-sized, typically reaching 60-70cm, with a clump-forming habit and sturdy stems that are excellent for cutting. It is a tough and reliable plant for a sunny UK border, flourishing in any reasonably fertile, well-drained soil. Its unique texture makes it stand out in a traditional white garden or a cottage-style planting. To maintain its vigour and ensure a long flowering season, it is best to deadhead regularly and divide the clumps every few years. It is fully hardy and resistant to most pests, providing a long-lasting display of bright, tactile flowers throughout the mid-summer months.
