Yellow Archangel 'Florentinum'
Lamiastrum galeobdolon 'Florentinum', commonly known as yellow archangel, is a vigorous and attractive semi-evergreen perennial excellent for ground cover in challenging shady areas of UK gardens. It forms spreading mats of striking variegated foliage, with silver markings on dark green leaves, providing bright contrast. In late spring and early summer, whorls of hooded, bright yellow flowers emerge, adding a cheerful splash of colour. Growing to about 15-30cm tall, it thrives in partial to full shade and tolerates a wide range of soil conditions, though it prefers moist, well-drained soil. This cultivar is less invasive than the species and is fully hardy (H6), suppressing weeds effectively and brightening dull corners year-round.
