Ping Juniper 'Loderi'
Juniperus pingii 'Loderi' is an elegant, slow-growing dwarf conifer that forms a dense, narrow conical or columnar shape. It is highly valued in UK horticulture for its architectural form and attractive foliage. The needles are short, needle-like, and a striking glaucous blue-green, providing year-round interest. This cultivar is very hardy (H6) and is particularly well-suited to smaller rock gardens, troughs, or as a focal point in a formal border. It requires very little maintenance and naturally retains its neat shape without pruning. Like most junipers, it demands excellent drainage and thrives in a sunny position; it can struggle in waterlogged or heavy clay soils. It is drought-tolerant once established and performs well in coastal locations. Although it produces inconspicuous flowers, the primary appeal is its compact, upright structure and texture. It is a superb choice for gardeners seeking a low-maintenance, vertical element in a limited space.
Sun: Full sun.
Soil: Well-drained, neutral to alkaline soil.
