Creeping Juniper 'Golden Carpet'
'Golden Carpet' is one of the best prostrate conifers for providing vibrant ground cover. It forms a dense, low-spreading mat of scale-like foliage that stays very close to the ground, rarely exceeding 10cm in height. The foliage is a brilliant lime-yellow during the spring and summer months, taking on subtle bronze or orange tints during the cold UK winters. It is extremely hardy (H7) and drought-tolerant once established, making it a practical choice for sloping banks, rockeries, or the edges of gravel paths where it can soften hard landscaping. It thrives in full sun and requires well-drained soil; if grown in too much shade, the yellow intensity will fade to a duller green. This juniper is also excellent for suppressing weeds due to its thick growth habit and is very low-maintenance, requiring no regular pruning.
Sun: Full sun.
Soil: Well-drained, poor to moderately fertile soil.
