Water Iris 'Rosea'
Iris laevigata 'Rosea' is an elegant marginal aquatic perennial that brings a soft, romantic hue to the pond edge. Unlike the more common blue varieties, 'Rosea' produces stunning, clear soft-pink flowers with subtle white markings on the falls. The blooms appear in early to mid-summer, held gracefully above fans of upright, sword-shaped, bright green leaves. This species is choice because, unlike many other irises, it is a true aquatic and can thrive even when the crown is submerged by several inches of water. It is perfectly hardy for the UK climate (H7). It prefers a position in full sun to ensure the best color and flowering density. It is an excellent choice for adding vertical interest to medium-sized ponds and works beautifully when planted alongside dark-foliaged pond plants or blue-flowered companion species.
