Candytuft 'Snowflake'

Iberis sempervirens 'Snowflake' is a quintessential evergreen sub-shrub for the UK garden, renowned for its reliability and pure white floral display. It has a spreading, mounded habit with dark green, leathery, oblong leaves that provide a solid green presence year-round. In late spring and early summer, it is transformed by dense, flat-topped clusters of brilliant white flowers that almost entirely obscure the foliage. While technically an alpine, it is incredibly versatile and works just as well at the front of a border or spilling over a wall. It is fully hardy and very easy to grow, provided it has good drainage and plenty of sunlight. After flowering, it is beneficial to trim the plant back by about a third to maintain a compact, bushy shape and prevent the centre from becoming woody and bare. It is also drought-tolerant once established.

Sun: Full sun.

Soil: Well-drained soil.

Hardiness: H5 — down to −15°C.
