Candytuft 'Masterpiece'
Iberis sempervirens 'Masterpiece' is an outstanding improved cultivar of the traditional perennial candytuft. This evergreen sub-shrub is highly valued for its neat, mounding habit and its exceptionally large flower heads. The foliage is dark green, narrow, and provides a solid structural presence in the rock garden throughout the winter. In late spring and early summer, the plant is completely transformed as it becomes covered in flat-topped clusters of dazzling, pure white flowers. This cultivar is noted for having a longer flowering period than many other Iberis varieties, sometimes even producing a smaller second flush in late summer. It is extremely hardy and easy to grow in a sunny position with well-drained soil. In the UK, it is often used as a 'bridge' plant, softening the edges of paths or walls. Pruning back the foliage by about a third after the main flowering period will ensure it remains dense and prevents the centre from becoming thin or woody.碎
