Autumn Stonecrop 'Carl'
Hylotelephium spectabile 'Carl' is a well-loved and exceptionally reliable perennial, famed for its late-season interest. This clump-forming succulent produces sturdy, upright stems topped with large, flat-topped flowerheads densely packed with rosy-pink, star-like flowers. These emerge in late summer and continue well into autumn, gradually darkening to coppery-red, providing vital nectar for bees and butterflies. It typically reaches 40-50cm in height and spread. 'Carl' thrives in full sun and well-drained soil, tolerating drought and poor soils. It's fully hardy (H7) and an RHS AGM winner, making it perfect for borders, gravel gardens, or containers. The dried flowerheads offer winter structure.
