Water Wisteria

Hygrophila difformis, commonly known as Water Wisteria, is a popular submerged aquatic plant, providing excellent oxygenation and a dense haven for small aquatic life. It features highly variable leaves; submerged leaves are typically finely dissected and feathery, ranging in colour from light green to a reddish hue under strong light, resembling oak leaves. When grown emersed, the leaves become more oval and solid. It can grow quite rapidly, making it excellent for quickly establishing new ponds or aquariums. It prefers still to slow-moving water and can tolerate a range of light conditions from moderate to high, thriving in nutrient-rich substrates. Fully hardy when kept below the frost line in ponds, it's a valuable ecological asset. Ultimate height 30-50cm, spread 20-30cm.
