Blue Himalayan Bamboo Candy Cane 'Candy Cane'

'Candy Cane' is a breathtakingly beautiful bamboo that is highly sought after by collectors. A cultivar of the Blue Himalayan Bamboo, it features culms that are striped with shades of blue, green, and pink/red, especially when new. It is an elegantly weeping, clumping bamboo that reaches about 3-4 metres. However, it is less hardy than many other species (H3/H4) and is only suitable for the warmest, most sheltered gardens in the UK, such as those in the South West, or for use in a large conservatory. It is very sensitive to frost and cold, drying winds. It requires a sheltered, partially shaded position and a consistently moist, high-quality soil. When grown well, it is perhaps the most colourful of all bamboos. It should be treated as a prize specimen and given a premium spot where its delicate beauty can be admired without risk of environmental stress. It is truly a 'jewel' in the bamboo world.

Sun: Partial shade.

Soil: Rich, moist, well-drained soil.
