Alum Root 'Heureka'
Heuchera multiflora 'Heureka' is a rugged and reliable ground cover variety that focuses on vigor and leaf texture. Unlike many of the highly bred, colourful cultivars, 'Heureka' retains a more naturalistic appearance with its deeply lobed, silver-marbled green leaves. It is exceptionally hardy and performs well in the UK's damp climate, showing better resistance to vine weevil and crown rot than some of the more exotic hybrids. It forms a dense, spreading mound that effectively crowds out weeds. In mid-summer, it produces narrow panicles of tiny, greenish-white flowers on tall, wiry stems which, though inconspicuous, add a misty quality to the planting. It is an excellent choice for mass planting in borders, rockeries, or as an edging plant for paths. This cultivar is particularly valued for its ability to maintain its foliage throughout the winter, providing year-round structure. It grows best in well-drained soil in partial shade, though it can tolerate more sun if the soil remains moist.
