Rock Rose 'Wisley White'
Helianthemum 'Wisley White' is a classic and reliable evergreen sub-shrub that forms a low, spreading carpet of foliage. It is characterised by its narrow, silvery-grey leaves that maintain their colour throughout the year. In early summer, the plant is transformed by a mass of pure white, saucer-shaped flowers, each featuring a bright yellow eye at the centre. This cultivar is particularly robust and is often seen spilling over the edges of walls or filling gaps in sunny rockeries. Like all Helianthemums, the individual flowers are short-lived but are produced in such rapid succession that the plant remains in full bloom for several weeks. It is perfectly adapted to the UK's sunny, well-drained sites and is remarkably drought-tolerant. To keep the plant looking its best and to prevent it from becoming thin and straggly in the centre, it should be trimmed back hard after flowering. This encourages a fresh flush of the attractive silver foliage.
