Shrubby Veronica 'Wiri Mist'

'Wiri Mist' is an elegant and reliable evergreen shrub that brings a clean, fresh look to the garden. It forms a low, spreading mound of small, lance-shaped, grey-green leaves that look attractive throughout the year. In late spring and early summer, it is almost entirely covered by a "mist" of small, terminal racemes of pure white flowers, which are highly attractive to bees. This cultivar is part of the New Zealand 'Wiri' series, bred for disease resistance and garden performance. It is hardy (H4) in most parts of the UK, though it may require a little protection in the coldest inland regions or during very severe winters. It prefers well-drained soil and a sunny or partially shaded position. Because of its low-growing habit, it is excellent for ground cover, rockeries, or the front of a shrub border. It requires very little pruning, although a light trim after flowering helps maintain a tight shape.

Sun: Full sun to partial shade.

Soil: Well-drained, neutral to alkaline soil.

Hardiness: H4 — down to −10°C.

Flowering: May, Jun.
