New Zealand Broadleaf 'Dixon's Cream' 'Dixons Cream'

'Dixon's Cream' is a beautiful variegated cultivar of the popular Griselinia littoralis, offering a brighter and more decorative option for evergreen hedging. It features leathery, oval leaves that are apple-green with a prominent, irregular creamy-white margin and splashes. This variegation gives the hedge a light, airy feel, perfect for brightening up a garden boundary. It has a naturally upright and bushy habit, making it an excellent screening plant that can reach 2.5 to 4 metres if left unpruned. It is famously salt-tolerant, making it one of the best choices for coastal gardens in the UK. However, it is slightly less hardy than the species (H4), so it may need a sheltered spot in colder inland areas or during severe winters. It prefers well-drained soil and thrives in full sun or partial shade. It is fast-growing and responds well to regular clipping in late spring or summer.

Sun: Full sun to partial shade.

Soil: Well-drained, light soil.

Hardiness: H4 — down to −10°C.

Flowering: May.
