Variegated Ground Ivy 'Variegata'
Glechoma hederacea 'Variegata' is a highly decorative and extremely vigorous evergreen ground cover. While the species is a common wild plant, this cultivar features charming, small, rounded leaves with scalloped edges, beautifully marbled with grey-green and creamy-white margins. In spring, it produces small, tubular, lavender-blue flowers that are held in the leaf axils. It has a trailing, stoloniferous habit, with stems that can grow quite long, making it excellent for quickly covering large areas of ground or for cascading down walls and the sides of hanging baskets. It is incredibly tough and will grow in almost any soil and situation, from full sun to deep shade, although it prefers some shade and consistent moisture. It is rated H6 for hardiness. Because of its vigorous nature, it is best used in areas where it has plenty of room to roam, such as under established trees or in wilder parts of the garden, as it can easily overwhelm smaller, less robust plants. 175 words.
