Verbena Tapien Lavender 'Tapien Lavender'
A vigorous and reliable ground-covering perennial often used as a seasonal bedding plant in the UK, although it can survive milder winters in sheltered spots. 'Tapien Lavender' is celebrated for its finely cut, lacy green foliage and its ability to form a dense, low-carpet that suppresses weeds effectively in sunny borders. From late spring right through until the first severe frosts of autumn, it is smothered in charming clusters of lavender-purple flowers with a delicate white eye. It is particularly valued for its high resistance to powdery mildew, a common issue for many verbenas. In the garden, it excels when trailing over low walls or filling gaps at the front of a well-drained herbaceous border. While often treated as H3 (half-hardy), providing a thick winter mulch can help it overwinter in southern counties. It requires very little maintenance other than occasional deadheading to prolong the flowering display.
