Avens 'Mai Tai'
Part of the popular ‘Cocktails’ series, 'Mai Tai' is a sophisticated and highly desirable Geum that brings a soft, romantic feel to the garden. It produces delicate, semi-double flowers that emerge in a warm shade of apricot-pink and fade to a soft peachy-blush as they age. The ruffled petals surround a central cluster of yellow stamens, and the blooms are held on dark, burgundy-coloured stems above a neat mound of fuzzy, scalloped green foliage. This cultivar is particularly floriferous and has a long flowering season from late spring into mid-summer. It is an easy-to-grow perennial that thrives in well-drained but moist soil. It performs best in full sun but will tolerate light shade. Geums are excellent for the front to middle of a border and are very attractive to pollinators. Compact and tidy, 'Mai Tai' is a great choice for both traditional cottage gardens and more contemporary schemes.
