Wintergreen 'Very Berry'

Gaultheria procumbens 'Very Berry' is a highly ornamental cultivar of wintergreen, cherished for its vibrant, long-lasting berries and evergreen foliage, perfectly suited for acidic soils in UK gardens. This low-growing, mat-forming shrub boasts glossy, dark green leaves that develop beautiful reddish-bronze tints in cooler months. In summer, charming bell-shaped white to pale pink flowers emerge, followed by an abundance of large, bright red berries that persist throughout autumn and winter. 'Very Berry' thrives in partial to full shade and requires moist, well-drained, acidic soil. It's fully hardy (H6) and makes an excellent ground cover for woodland gardens, adding colour and texture beneath ericaceous shrubs or in containers.
