Summer Hyacinth

While its more common relative Galtonia candicans graces gardens with white bells, Galtonia viridiflora offers a unique and sophisticated twist with its elegant, greenish-white, bell-shaped flowers. These pendulous blooms are held in loose racemes atop sturdy, erect stems reaching up to 1 metre in height, appearing in mid to late summer. The subtle green tint gives them a refined, almost ethereal quality, perfect for adding a touch of understated glamour to borders or naturalised areas. It thrives in fertile, well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade, and is a robust and hardy bulb. Galtonia viridiflora makes an excellent cut flower and provides a valuable late-season nectar source for bees. Its distinct colour makes it a desirable addition for gardeners seeking something a little different. It is distinct from Galtonia candicans.
