Crown Imperial 'Lutea'

Fritillaria imperialis 'Lutea' is a magnificent and dramatic bulb, similar in stature to 'Rubra Maxima' but distinguished by its vibrant, clear yellow, bell-shaped flowers. These large blooms form an impressive crown at the top of stout, leafy stems, reaching up to 1 metre in height in mid-spring. Fully hardy, it thrives in full sun and well-drained soil, requiring a sheltered position to protect its stately blooms from strong winds. Like all Crown Imperials, it possesses a characteristic musky scent, which is more noticeable up close. It provides an architectural focal point and a burst of sunny colour at the back of a mixed or herbaceous border.
