Japanese Aralia

A bold evergreen shrub cherished for its large, deeply lobed, glossy dark green leaves, providing a distinctly tropical feel to the garden. It forms a sturdy, upright shrub, typically reaching 2-4 metres in height and spread. In autumn, it produces interesting spherical clusters of white flowers, followed by small black berries that are attractive to birds. Hardy (H5) and remarkably tolerant, it thrives in partial to full shade and moist, well-drained soil, though it can tolerate sun if conditions are consistently moist. Excellent for shady borders, urban gardens, or as a focal point. Holds an RHS AGM.
