Umbrella Bamboo 'Simba'

'Simba' is a compact and well-behaved cultivar of the popular Umbrella Bamboo. It is particularly well-suited to smaller UK gardens as it typically only reaches 2 to 2.5 metres in height. It has a dense, bushy, and slightly weeping habit, creating a soft, leafy mound. Being a clumping Fargesia, it is completely non-invasive. The leaves are a bright, light green, providing a fresh look throughout the year. It is very hardy (H6) and dependable. 'Simba' prefers a position in partial shade and requires a moisture-retentive soil, as it can be sensitive to drying out. It is an excellent choice for a low evergreen hedge, a specimen for a small border, or even for growing in large containers on a patio. It does not produce the massive canes of its cousins, but its reliability and neat habit make it a staple of British horticulture. It is pest-resistant and generally easy to care for once established.
