Dragon's Head Bamboo 'Rufa'

Fargesia dracocephala 'Rufa' is an excellent, non-invasive, clump-forming bamboo much appreciated in UK gardens for its delicate, feathery foliage and graceful, arching habit. Often referred to simply as 'Rufa' or 'Red Panda' (though 'Rufa' is the more accurate botanical epithet for this specific plant, not the general common name for ALL Fargesia dracocephala), it forms a dense, upright clump ideal for informal hedging, screening, or as a softer specimen plant. Its new culms emerge with reddish sheaths, adding a subtle touch of colour. It prefers a cool, partially shaded position with moist, well-drained soil, thriving in conditions protected from hot afternoon sun and drying winds. Very hardy.
