Pearlbush 'Lotus Moon'
A more upright and compact alternative to 'The Bride', 'Lotus Moon' is a spectacular deciduous shrub that becomes smothered in pure white flowers in late spring. The name 'Pearlbush' refers to the round, pearl-like flower buds that appear in clusters before opening into five-petalled, brilliant white blossoms. The habit is naturally neat and mounded, making it suitable for smaller gardens or even large containers. It is a very hardy plant that performs best in a sunny spot with soil that doesn't dry out completely in summer. After flowering, the bright green foliage provides a clean backdrop for other plants. It is generally pest and disease-free and requires very little maintenance other than a light thinning out of old wood every few years. It provides a luminous focal point in a spring border.
Sun: Full sun to partial shade.
Soil: Well-drained, fertile soil.
Hardiness: H6 — down to −20°C.
Flowering: Apr, May.
