Spindle 'Green Rocket'
Euonymus japonicus 'Green Rocket' is an outstanding architectural evergreen shrub with a naturally narrow, upright, and pillar-like habit. This makes it an ideal choice for creating a low to medium vertical hedge in confined spaces or for defining garden boundaries without encroaching on walkway space. It features dense, glossy, oval leaves of a deep, vibrant green that retain their colour throughout the year. Unlike many other Euonymus, 'Green Rocket' is primarily grown for its tight column-like form rather than its flowers. It is extremely hardy and resilient, coping well with coastal exposures, urban pollution, and a wide variety of soil types, provided they are not waterlogged. It is often used in the UK as a disease-resistant alternative to Box (Buxus) for creating neat, formal lines. It requires very little pruning due to its slow-growing and controlled nature, though a light trim in spring can help maintain its exceptionally crisp, vertical profile.
Sun: Full sun to partial shade.
Soil: Well-drained loam.
