Japanese Spindle 'Bravo'
Euonymus japonicus 'Bravo' is a versatile and highly decorative evergreen shrub that makes a superlative medium-sized hedge. It features large, leathery, oval leaves with a striking variegation: deep green centres surrounded by broad, creamy-white margins. These bright leaves are excellent for lighting up darker corners of the garden or creating a vibrant boundary. It has a dense, upright habit and is particularly well-suited to coastal locations, as it possesses high tolerance for salt-laden winds. It is also remarkably resilient against urban pollution. 'Bravo' is easy to maintain, responding well to regular clipping to keep it neat and compact. While it does produce inconspicuous greenish flowers in early summer, it is primarily grown for its foliage. It is hardy (H4) across most of the UK but performs best when sheltered from the harshest winter gales. It thrives in any well-drained soil and is adaptable to various light conditions.
