Wintercreeper 'Horts Blaze'

Euonymus fortunei 'Hort's Blaze' is a versatile evergreen shrub that works excellently as a low-growing ground cover. This particular cultivar is noted for its exceptional winter colour; while the leaves are a deep, glossy green during the spring and summer, they turn a spectacular, fiery plum-red after the first frosts, providing much-needed warmth to the winter garden. It has a low, spreading habit and will also climb slightly if it encounters a low wall or fence. It is incredibly tough and adapts well to a wide range of UK growing conditions, from coastal sites to polluted urban areas. It is fully hardy and tolerates most soil types, provided they are not waterlogged. 'Hort's Blaze' is an excellent choice for stabilizing banks or as a low-maintenance fill for large borders. It can be easily pruned to maintain its shape or height. The berries, though small, are attractive to birds in the autumn and winter.
