Escallonia macrantha 'Crimson Spire' is a robust evergreen shrub perfect for coastal hedging and exposed sites in the UK. It boasts glossy, dark green leaves and an abundance of rich, crimson-pink flowers produced in dense clusters from early to late summer. This cultivar forms a dense, bushy hedge that provides excellent shelter and privacy, even in challenging conditions. It is particularly tolerant of salt spray and strong winds. 'Crimson Spire' is reasonably hardy (H4) in milder coastal and southern regions, but may require some winter protection in colder inland areas. It thrives in well-drained soil and prefers a sunny position to flower profusely.
