Dog's Tooth Violet
Erythronium revolutum, the 'Dog's Tooth Violet', is a captivating woodland plant known for its exquisite, pendent, lily-like flowers in shades of soft pink to lavender, often with a yellow throat. Each bloom has gracefully recurved petals, appearing in mid to late spring. Its attractive marbled foliage, speckled with bronze or purple, is also a highly ornamental feature. This fully hardy bulb thrives in cool, moist, humus-rich soil in partial to full shade, mimicking its native woodland habitat. It's perfect for naturalising under deciduous trees and shrubs, creating a serene and elegant display in the spring garden. It is a slow but steady spreader.
