Rocket

Eruca vesicaria subsp. sativa, commonly known as rocket or arugula, is a fast-growing annual salad leaf prized for its distinctly peppery flavour. It forms a rosette of deeply lobed, vibrant green leaves, typically reaching a height of 15-30cm with a similar spread. It is relatively hardy and quickly produces small white flowers in summer, which are also edible. Rocket thrives in a sunny to partial shade position with fertile, well-drained soil. Successional sowings from spring to autumn ensure a continuous supply. Keep well-watered to prevent bolting and reduce bitterness. Excellent for enhancing salads. RHS hardiness rating H3.
