Alpine Stork's-bill 'Album'
A delightful, dwarf perennial that forms a incredibly tight, low-growing carpet of tiny, rounded, lobed leaves. This white-flowered cultivar is particularly prized for its long flowering season, often producing its delicate, five-petalled flowers from late spring right through to autumn. Each flower is pure white, often with very fine pink veining. In the UK, it is a perfect plant for filling gaps between paving stones, planting in wall crevices, or as a groundcover in a small alpine trough. It prefers a sheltered, sunny spot and well-drained soil. While it is generally hardy in the UK, it can be susceptible to excessive winter wet, so a gritty mulch is highly recommended. It is a tidy, non-invasive plant that provides constant interest throughout the growing season. Its miniature geranium-like appearance makes it a favourite for fairy gardens and small-scale rockeries. It is easily propagated by division or from cuttings in late summer.
