Goumi

Goumi is a deciduous shrub, typically 2-3m in height and spread. It's grown for its small, tart, red, speckled fruits that ripen in early summer (June-July), which are rich in vitamins and can be eaten fresh or used in preserves. This hardy (H6) shrub is adaptable to various soils, even poor ones, and thrives in full sun. Inconspicuous, fragrant, creamy-yellow flowers appear in May, attracting pollinators. Goumi is also a nitrogen-fixer, improving soil fertility. It adds an interesting, less common fruit to the garden and offers good resilience.
